Revealing Vulnerability of N-1 Secure Power Systems to Coordinated Cyber-Physical Attacks

چکیده
Coordinated cyber-physical (CCP) attacks have attracted wide attention in power systems because of their potential to cause severe disturbance including cascading failures. However, as realistic operate within the N-1 security criterion, existing CCP may be part mitigated. As such, this paper analyzes impacts on vulnerability that employ constrained optimal flow (SCOPF). Specifically, a tri-level model is proposed analyze attack impacts, whereby adversary coordinates physical with cyber initiate and propagate post-contingency overload based SCOPF. A methodology utilizing semidefinite programming (SDP) relaxation primal-dual formulation transform into conic optimization, such can easily solved by SDP solvers. Case studies IEEE 14, 57, 118 bus test demonstrate criterion are able N-1-1 contingency even trigger

Secure State Estimation of Cyber-Physical Systems under Switching Attacks
This paper deals with secure state estimation against switching mode and signal attacks on cyber-physical systems, possibly affected by adversarial extra fake measurement injection. A stochastic Bayesian approach is undertaken by exploiting Bernoulli and Poisson random sets for modeling the attack existence and, respectively, fake measurements, as well as multiple models for handling the variou...
متن کاملSecure Power Systems Against Malicious Cyber-Physical Data Attacks: Protection and Identification
The security of power systems against malicious cyberphysical data attacks becomes an important issue. The adversary always attempts to manipulate the information structure of the power system and inject malicious data to deviate state variables while evading the existing detection techniques based on residual test. The solutions proposed in the literature are capable of immunizing the power sy...

متن کاملModeling and Vulnerability Analysis of Cyber-Physical Power Systems Considering Network Topology and Power Flow Properties
Conventional power systems are developing into cyber-physical power systems (CPPS) with wide applications of communication, computer and control technologies. However, multiple practical cases show that the failure of cyber layers is a major factor leading to blackouts. Therefore, it is necessary to discuss the cascading failure process considering cyber layer failures and analyze the vulnerabi...
متن کاملResilience of Process Control Systems to Cyber-Physical Attacks
In this work we investigate the matter of “secure control” – a novel research direction capturing security objectives specific to Industrial Control Systems (ICS). We provide an empirical analysis of the well known Tennessee Eastman process control challenge problem to gain insights into the behavior of a physical process when confronted with cyber-physical attacks. In particular, we investigat...
